Automobile manufacturers fined by CCI Competition commission of india


CCI competition commission of India fined major automobile manufacturers a penalty of INR 2545 cr. The fine was imposed on 14 manufacturers including TATA and Maruti Suzuki for violating fair competition norms in spare parts market. Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Skoda, Volkswagen, Fiat, GM, HM, Mahindra, BMW, Mercedes have also been penalised.
These companies were found to indulge in practice related to denail of market access to independent repairers as they were not provided access to branded spare parts and diagnostic tools which hampered their ability to provide service in after market fir repair and maintenence. The regulator has asked origional equipment suppliers to sell spare parts in open market without any restrictions.
