2018 Renault Kwid launched in India. Every refresh/facelift which is launched by any auto manufacturer actually comes with an increase in its price tag, owing to the additional features which are introduced. But, the French manufacturer, Renault, introduced the 2018 Kwid range in India with obviously, more features without any change in the price tag. Impressive?
Let me just introduce the 2018 Renault Kwid as it gets additional features and is also called as new KWID 2018 Feature Loaded Range.
In addition to these, 2018 Renault Kwid Feature Loaded Range gets Rear ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor) across all variants which allows the rear seat belt to freely extend and retract with occupant movement, yet locks the belt during a sudden stop or upon impact. The AMT variants now gets a Traffic Assist feature, which helps the vehicle to crawl forward in slow moving traffic and also prevents it from rolling back on slopes. This feature is available in almost all AMT’s present in India (Tata calls it Creep Function, different moniker’s by different manufacturers).
Equipment levels have also been tweaked across variants, RXL variant gets additional upgrades like Front Power window, Remote Central Locking whereas the RXT(O) variant get Rear 12V socket and stylised chrome near the gear knob. The KWID Climber gets the similar upgradations with an additional Rear Arm rest for extra comfort and convenience. In terms of design updates, not many changes have been made, except for a new razor edge chrome front grille at the front.
After the success of Duster, Renault Kwid followed up with a strong north facing sales chart with over 2,50,000 units sold. Keeping the charts on fire, holding the price tag consistent is actually a good move. 2018 Renualt Kwid Feature Loaded Range is priced from INR 2.67 lakh for the base model, and going up to INR 4.59 lakh for the top-spec model (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
2018 Renault Kwid Feature Loaded Range comes with a 4 year / 1 lakh km. It is available with two engine options 0.8l (power of 54 bhp at 5,678 rpm, peak torque of 72 Nm at 4,386 rpm) and 1.0l petrol (67 bhp of maximum power at 5,500 rpm, peak torque of 91 Nm at 4,250 rpm), eight trims, and two transmissions – Manual 5-speed and AMT. It comes with driver airbag and pro-sense seat belts – pre-tensioners with load limiters as standard across all variants. Oher features include – 7-inch touchscreen Media NAV system, Rear Camera, digital Instrument cluster, one-touch lane change indicator, radio speed dependent volume control and best-in-class boot capacity of 300 litres, 180 mm of ground clearance, power steering, 3 and 4 Speed Manual AC, ORVM passenger side, engine immobilizer, single din audio with Bluetooth and telephony, front speakers and a 12V power socket.
