2020 Hyundai i20 price

2020 Hyundai i20 launched at INR 6.80 Lakh in India. The third-gen Hyundai i20 is being offered with two petrol and one diesel engine option. Hyundai has not launched the Era base model and the starting price is steep compared to the competition. The price difference between base Petrol and base diesel is almost INR 1.40 lakh.

– 1.2L petrol engine with 5-speed Manual (83hp) and CVT (88hp),

– 1.0L Turbo Petrol(118hp, 172Nm)  with 7-speed DCT auto and IMT (Clutch-less Manual)

– 1.5L (99hp, 240Nm) Diesel with 6-speed Manual transmission.

ARAI claimed mileage for the 1.2-litre petrol manual is 20.35kpl and 19.65kpl with the CVT auto box, while the 1.0-litre turbo petrol returns 20.25kpl with either of the gearbox options. The 1.5-litre diesel manual has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 25.2kpl.

2020 Hyundai i20 features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Hyundai’s ‘BlueLink’ connected car features. It also gets a TFT digital instrument cluster, a 7 speaker Bose sound system, sunroof, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, Diamond cut allow wheels, four spoke steering wheel, air purifier, etc.

In terms of Safety the third gen i20 gets ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, 2 of which are standard, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist and Vehicle Stability Control.

Hyundai is also offering the premium hatchback with up to 5 years warranty with its ‘Wonder’ warranty package, along with 3 years of roadside assistance (RSA) and a 3-year subscription to its BlueLink connected tech.

2020 Hyundai i20 uses a new K-Platform and measure 3995mm in length, 1775mm in width and 1505mm in height. The new model is longer by 10mm and wider by 41mm even the wheelbase has increased by 10mm at 2580mm as compared to the outgoing model.

Hyundai’s sensuous sportiness design theme is rather quirky and might not be pleasing to look at for everyone. It comes with elements like wider cascading grille, swept back headlamps with DRLs and chiseled bonnet. Along the side are sharp body lines and a uniquely deigned C pillar. At the rear the new tail lamps with Z-shaped LED inserts are connected with a long chrome strip and adorned by an ornamental diffuser.

On the inside the cabin is finished in either all black or with dual tone depending on the variant. The interior theme is all flat with a AC vents integrated with a mid riff running across the center of the dashboard. The touchscreen is again housed inside a floating panel for a flat look on the upward side of the dash,

2020 Hyundai i20 is steeply priced and the difference between the petrol and diesel variants is extremely wide. The top end variant comes to INR 13 lakh on road which might not be the variant for the masses as it touches the pricing of a segment above. Even the base diesel touches INR 9.60 lakh on road. The new i20 competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz and VW Polo.
