Maruti Suzuki Alto completes 20 successful years in the Indian market

Maruti Suzuki Alto, an entry-level hatchback has completed 20 years in India. The hatchback was launched way back in the year 2000 and sold more than 40 lakh copies in India. It claimed the title of ‘India’s no.1 Selling Car’ within 4 years of launch and touched a 10 lakh unit sale by 2008. Maruti Suzuki Alto has been the top contender for first-time buyers. In the 20 year journey, it has received multiple updates and the latest model is equipped with features like features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, dual-tone interior, power steering, internally adjustable ORVMs, and more.

Alto is equipped with 796cc 3-cylinder motor which produces 47 bhp of maximum power at 6000 rpm and 69 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. It is also available in CNG avatar which is capable of delivering 40 bhp and 60 Nm. It is even highly fuel-efficient with figures of 22.05 km/l for Petrol and 31.56 km/kg for CNG.
