2027 Honda Civic Type R Adds Heated Seats and Cooling Updates in Canada
Heated front seats headline the everyday-use changes to Canada’s 2027 Honda Civic Type R, alongside revised cooling and more standard technology. The hot hatch retains its 315-horsepower turbocharged K20C engine and manual transmission, with Canadian MSRP announced at $54,850.
The refresh puts comfort and equipment alongside the familiar performance hardware. For Canadian shoppers, the useful distinction is between changes that affect daily use, such as seat heating and connectivity, and Honda’s claims about cooling and braking feel, which still need to be assessed behind the wheel.
Cooling changes without a new powertrain
A larger grille opening and deeper front splitter are the main functional changes at the front. Honda says the revised design improves airflow and engine cooling during demanding track driving. The company also lists a brake-pedal revision intended to give a more direct feel.
Those are manufacturer claims about the updated car, rather than Speedhounds driving impressions. The announcement does not turn the Type R into a different kind of performance car: its turbocharged engine and manual transmission remain central to the package. Buyers looking specifically for an automatic will still need to look elsewhere.
A more accommodating cabin
Heated front seats are a first for the Type R. They are a practical addition for buyers who want to use the car beyond occasional summer drives, although seat heating alone says nothing about its suitability for winter road conditions.
Honda also adds Ultrasuede to the instrument panel and upper front door panels, with darker interior accents. These are cabin material and appearance changes; they should not be confused with a different powertrain or a measured improvement in performance.
Google built-in with Gemini, Alexa built-in and two USB-C ports join the technology list. Post-Collision Braking is also added. Meteoroid Grey Metallic becomes a new exterior colour choice, rather than a feature that every car necessarily includes.
Canadian pricing and arrival timing
The $54,850 Canadian MSRP is a starting reference, not an out-the-door total. Honda excludes freight and PDI, taxes, applicable fees, levies and duties, premium colour charges, insurance, licensing and registration. Dealer prices may vary.
When comparing quotes, ask retailers to show the vehicle price, freight and PDI, selected options and colour charges, dealer fees and taxes separately. A higher quoted total does not by itself establish a markup; the included items need to match before two prices can be compared fairly.
Honda’s October 1 Canadian announcement gives an arrival window of later this fall, without specifying local allocations or delivery dates. That window should not be treated as confirmation that a particular dealer has a car available. Before making plans around a delivery, confirm the actual vehicle, timing and full written price with the retailer.
