Future Vehicles for Canada: Three Manufacturer Plans to Watch

Should you buy now or wait for an announced vehicle? Three manufacturer plans give Canadian shoppers something concrete to follow: Chevrolet’s next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, a Mazda CX-5 hybrid planned for 2027, and Ford’s Mustang Dark Horse SC convertible. Their announcements establish a direction and an expected timeline; they do not guarantee a vehicle at your local dealer.

2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: late-2026 expectation

Chevrolet Canada’s next-generation Silverado page identifies the truck as a 2027 model and gives anticipated availability in late 2026. It also warns that the preproduction models shown may differ from production vehicles.

That distinction matters if you are replacing a work truck. A model-year badge does not specify the delivery date of a particular configuration. Ask a dealer to separate the announced launch window from the availability of the cab, engine and equipment you need. This preview does not assign a Canadian starting price or quote a maximum capability as though it applied to every truck.

Mazda Canada’s CX-5 announcement says a hybrid powertrain is coming in 2027, pairing a new SkyActiv-Z engine with Mazda Hybrid System technology. That is separate from the 2.5-litre gasoline powertrain described for the redesigned 2026 CX-5.

For a shopper waiting specifically for a hybrid, the important point is the powertrain’s announced year, rather than assuming every redesigned CX-5 is already a hybrid. Canadian trim pricing, final fuel-consumption ratings and the delivery date of an individual order need to be established for the version you actually purchase. Our powertrain guide explains how a regular hybrid differs from a plug-in hybrid and a battery-electric vehicle.

Mustang Dark Horse SC convertible: spring-2027 arrival plan

In its Canadian-market announcement, Ford says orders for the Dark Horse SC convertible open in fall 2026, with showroom arrivals starting in spring 2027. Ford describes a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The convertible is a specific derivative, so its timing should not be substituted for that of another Mustang. The announcement is also not evidence of a particular dealer’s allocation or an agreed Canadian transaction price.

A practical way to decide whether to wait

Write down the configuration you want, the latest delivery date you can accept and the full amount you are prepared to pay. Then compare a written dealer proposal with a vehicle you can buy now. Keep an announced launch window separate from a confirmed order, and ask what any deposit commits you to before paying it.
