Volvo Global Sales Fall 16% as Fully Electric Sales Rise

Volvo Cars reported 141,656 global sales for August through October 2026, down 16% from the same three-month period a year earlier. Fully electric sales moved in the opposite direction, rising 27%.
The reporting window matters: the November 4 release covers a rolling three-month period worldwide. These figures should not be read as October-only sales or Canadian sales.
Different powertrains, different results
Volvo sold 48,660 fully electric vehicles in the period, compared with 38,391 a year earlier. Plug-in hybrids fell 30% to 28,857.
Together, those two categories totalled 77,517 vehicles, down 3% year over year. Volvo reported the combined electrified share at 55%, with its published percentages rounded separately.
The company pointed to difficult conditions in China and the United States, while describing strong European demand for fully electric models. These explanations are Volvo’s assessment of its markets.
What Canadian readers can take from it
The report illustrates why an EV-growth headline and a decline in overall sales can both be true. It does not establish Canadian dealer stock, local incentives or a change to Canadian pricing.
If you are shopping locally, confirm the Canadian specification and written purchase terms for the exact vehicle rather than drawing conclusions from a global sales trend.
